Bahr’ Play Showcases Maritime Heritage in Baha Theater Tour

BAHA: The three-day Theater Tour initiative concluded on Saturday at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Theater, drawing large crowds for the acclaimed play “Bahr,” according to the report.

Organized by the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, the event highlighted the award-winning production inspired by maritime heritage and the lives of sailors, including themes of diving and pearl hunting.

The play is part of the commission’s broader effort to promote culture and expand access to performing arts across the Kingdom.

Commission Chairman Nasser Al-Qasabi expressed gratitude to the governor of Baha for supporting the initiative and facilitating its launch in the region.

The Theater Tour initiative brings high-quality theatrical productions to cities, towns, and villages across Saudi Arabia. Its first phase, running from April 3 to May 3, features “Bahr,” which premiered in Baha from April 3 to 5.

The play will next be staged in Jubail from April 17 to 19, followed by Dammam from April 24 to 26, and will conclude in Al-Ahsa from May 1 to 3.

The project aims to foster theater appreciation, deliver cultural services to underserved areas, and empower local theater groups.

Written by Abdulrahman Al-Marikhi and directed by Sultan Al-Nawa, “Bahr” has earned multiple honors, including best actor, best script, and best overall production at the Riyadh Theater Festival, and best director and best musical effects at the 19th Gulf Theater Festival.
